CHARACTER NAME: Scarlett Langford
CHARACTER SERIES: Original Character
[OOC]
Backtagging: Yes. I'll backtag forever into the sunset.
Threadhopping: If we talk about it beforehand, first.
Fourthwalling: Pretty difficult as an OC so this doesn't really apply.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): I'm pretty good with dealing with most things - but it's always good to talk about it first.
[IC]
Hugging this character: You can try, but she'll probably punch you.
Kissing this character: Maybe, if she likes you.
Flirting with this character: Go for it, she might flirt back if she likes you enough.
Fighting with this character: Go for it, Scarlett likes hitting people.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): I like to talk about things beforehand. Getting bruised and battered is pretty fine with me since she fights a lot anyway but more severe injuries will definitely need a conversation about.
Killing this character: Eh, she's already been there before. Let's say no.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: As a Temeluchus, Scarlett's abilities are mental/psychological in nature. Because of this, she has some degree of protection of others using mental abilities on her. It would take someone with a lot of skill and practice to get through her mental defences.
Warnings:
[OPT IN/OUT]
Scarlett is a Temeluchus, a fear demon. She has the ability to deeply sense and manipulate fear in others. She can read a person’s mind and find and replicate that person’s deepest, darkest fears – creating them in the form of an illusion that only that person can see - as a form of torturing them psychologically. You can choose to opt in or opt out of this, as it's likely her Scarlett's abilities might delve into difficult themes. However, those who opt in, I will always approach them for planning/plotting posts that involve Scarlett's powers should she act upon what she senses from your character. Communication is A+

Warnings:
* Scarlett swears a lot. Like, most sentences will include her swearing.
* She has also struggled with drug addiction in the past and is a borderline alcoholic with her bouts of heavy drinking.
* Scarlett has been a victim of domestic abuse - both witnessing her parents and having the abuse put on her directly via her father using his powers on her to essentially 'make her love him' as well as physical abuse. She doesn't like to talk about it and won't actively discuss it until certain circumstances arise but it can come up in prose/stream of consciousness.
* Suffers from PTSD from both her death and witnessing the end of her home world, as well as her experiences with domestic abuse.

Character Profile:
Game: Deerington
Does your character have any psychic barriers/anything that may protect them from Scarlett's abilities or make it harder for her to use her powers on them?: Elliot has a shitload of anti-possession and protection tattoos with pretty strong magic behind them but he can lessen them for her. Newt just has the Swipe which might make things a little weird for her idk???
What are some 'surface fears' that Scarlett might pick up on with a quick look into your character's mind?: Oh god, okay, Elliot's mind is a jungle gym of fears, guilt and self-hatred. None of it is probably surface but uhhh. He's getting a fear of water and drowning because of repeated nightmares of it. The water around him has also been changing and freaking him out (turning to blood or to a black inky colour). He's got a small fear that he might accidentally hurt ghost grant one day. He's afraid that he's hurting people whilst he loses time and wakes up in random places covered in blood.
As for Newt:
He's afraid of falling behind because of his limp and one day getting left behind because he can't keep up. He's afraid of becoming a Crank, he never wants to become one of those things.
What are your character's deepest fears?:
cp from his demon section in his app:
Elliot's main demon aside from his horrific survivor's guilt from being the living twin, is the fact that he's aware that Grant was the favourite twin. People always liked Grant more than him, it's one of the reasons Elliot acts out as much as he does, not that he'll ever admit it. His mother personally blames him and abuses him whenever he visits her, instilling the fact that it's his fault and it should have been him in him. So he's got a deep fear of being the twin that's pushed behind. He's also got a deep fear that Grant blames him for what happened and also that he could have saved him.
Another big demon he struggles with is the fact that he could easily be classified as one of the monsters that they are trained to destroy. Often he wonders if he's more witch or more monster. Feeding off death and souls seems no better than what some of the monsters he kills does. Often times he wonders if he was born wrong. He's afraid that one day the school is going to put a hit out on him. He's also afraid he might hurt someone innocent one day on accident.
Along the vein of being classified as one of the monsters is his magic. He is a Necromantic witch, which is generally a dark feeling magic to begin with, but his is fucking disgusting. He outright refuses to channel it into other people or use it on his friends unless he has to because of how it feels. Each Plane and each witch has a different signature flavour of magic, generally the same planes are cut from the same cloth but it's all unique to the witch. And Elliot knows his is disgusting, and he can't help but feel it signifies who he is inside.
Some quotes about Elliot's magic (what it feels like varies on how much he's pouring into someone or what exactly he's doing with it):
❝ On full blast, it's like being dragged under a slowly churning vat of viscous slop. It comes with the territory, he supposes, to bring things back from their slowly shifting phase back into the ever-talked about primordial ooze. ❞
❝ A switch somewhere had to be flipped because in an instant there is a litchenberg of necromantic magic spilling from his hand. There's no real intelligence to the pattern of magic that spreads out from his hand except that it is indeed spreading like an infection or a plague, wrapping around Tristan. It's not warm like Tristan's, it's not exactly comforting but it doesn't lack in strength. No, it feels like a cold smoke that wraps around Tristan's senses, almost stealing the oxygen from him and leaving the stirring of nausea and lightheadedness in its wake. ❞
He's afraid his magic shows that he's just a rotten person inside and deserves all the terrible things that have happened to him.
Another "demon" is that he's possessed by the spirit I mentioned before - Nyaminyami. He's causing Elliot all kinds of havoc and inner turmoil. He's giving Elliot an intense phobia of water - giving him nightmares of drowning often and turning water to blood and black inky sludge whenever he gets near it. He causes him to wake up in strange places covered in blood and to say strange things that he doesn't remember. Part of him feels like he deserves all the suffering it causes him.
He's an alcoholic to try to deal with all his problems, it doesn't really help, but it's also a problem. This isn't really a fear but it might be useful.
Elliot uses drugs to try to escape his shitty shitty reality too - the soft kind and the hard king, anything he can get his hands on. This isn't really a fear but it might be useful.
He's undiagnosed unmedicated manic depressive and fights with it a lot. This isn't really a fear but it might be useful.
He's an adrenaline junkie and puts himself in danger because of this a lot. He's afraid one day this is going to get his friends hurt but he can't stop.
The Johannesburg Collective has turned him into a weapon, and while he doesn't really acknowledge it, he's aware of it subconsciously. And he knows weapons aren't meant to find peace; they're meant to find death and destruction. This isn't really a fear but it might be useful.
Elliot has also tried to kill himself when he was younger after his brother's death, and also a few times that he doesn't quite remember whilst fighting with Nyaminyami for control. This isn't really a fear but it might be useful.
As for Newt:
cp'd from his app:
Newt tried to kill himself by throwing himself from the Maze walls. It didn't work and Minho found him and saved him after he broke his leg pretty badly. He's both thankful and regretful at the same time. Life's never been that great for him. This has given him a bit of a fear of heights, he suppresses it, but it's there.
Newt puts the lives of his friends above his own, he always has and he always will. He especially holds Minho's and Thomas's lives very dear. He also blames himself silently for what happened to his friend, just like what happened to Alby and the other Gladers. But if he stops and thinks about it it'll probably eat him alive, so he has to keep going. He's afraid of losing more of his friends, he's also terrified of outliving Minho or Thomas.
The thought of turning into a Crank - after seeing what it did to Winston - haunts him. He'd rather put a bullet in his skull or a knife through his heart than suffer one minute of forgetting who he is and trying to eat his friends.
Newt's never really known a home other than the Glade. Since then they've been searching, and he has to keep telling himself and Thomas that there is a place for them somewhere, out of fears that there isn't and they'll be running forever.
One of Newt's huge insecurities is the fact that he's aware one day his limp is going to cause him to fall behind too much, and cause his friends to leave him behind.
He's haunted by all the death he's seen, all the friends he's lost. And sometimes he feels like by the family he's lost. Not that he can really remember it.

Does your character have any psychic barriers/anything that may protect them from Scarlett's abilities or make it harder for her to use her powers on them?: Sure doesn't!!!
What are some 'surface fears' that Scarlett might pick up on with a quick look into your character's mind?: Most men especially ones that are assertive, car accidents, lmao probably super large tornadoes at this point, she's not to fond of guns in other people's hands though she's ok holding on herself, same with knives.
What are your character's deepest fears?: Abandonment, death - either killing people or being killed herself and not coming back from it, being forgotten, being unloved, losing the people she cares about to someone better than her, disappointing her mother so badly that she gives up entirely on her, she is afraid of truly hurting the people she cares about with her self-destructive behavior, she's afraid of pushing everyone away since she actively keeps people at an arms length.
She found the body of her murdered girlfriend, Rachel Amber, before she showed up in Deerington and she suffers from a lot of guilt at not being able to save her. She still has severe nightmares in regards to finding her and this is easily one of her biggest fears/demons because it's so fresh. It's the second traumatic death she's had to deal with, as she also lost her father, and she spent years seeing his image everywhere in her head, as a sort of vision that talked to her. She's afraid of going crazy and seeing both of their spirits around again.
Chloe's also been heavily abused by her step-father, David, who can be a prominent source of fear for her. While she tends to stand up to him, she does everything she can to avoid interacting with him, which shows she is afraid of him a lot more than she lets on with her tougher attitude.
I think that covers most of it. Chloe is A Mess, tbh, it doesn't take much to mess with her.

Does your character have any psychic barriers/anything that may protect them from Scarlett's abilities or make it harder for her to use her powers on them?:
Not particularly; if anything, Rei may be easier to influence or even possess given the right circumstances.
What are some 'surface fears' that Scarlett might pick up on with a quick look into your character's mind?: Being taken away by spirits, being possessed and cursed, being unable to wake up from this dream
What are your character's deepest fears?: Losing control and losing her loved ones. She's already lost the person who mattered the most to her by her own hand. It was an accident, and she is recovering, but it's left an emotional scar.
She's also coming to terms that she has an active power, that affects her daily life now. She doesn't know what to do with it, she can't turn it off, and if anything, it hampers her day to day life. It's likely to grow as she continues to live here.
